Bitumen Membrane & Waterproofing

Torch-applied and self-adhesive bitumen membranes for durable waterproofing of flat roofs and terraces in the Mediterranean climate.

← All services

Modified bitumen membranes are the workhorse of flat-roof waterproofing on the Costa Blanca. They withstand intense UV radiation, thermal cycling from sub-10Β°C nights to 40Β°C+ summer days, and the sudden torrential downpours of the DANA season. Properly installed with correct detailing at upstands, drains and penetrations, a quality bitumen membrane lasts 20–25 years. At DAM TECHO S.L. we only use APP and SBS-modified membranes from certified manufacturers.

Our waterproofing systems

πŸ”₯
Torch-Applied Membrane

Two-layer system with a reinforced base sheet and mineral-surfaced cap sheet. The standard for new roofs and full replacements.

πŸ—οΈ
Self-Adhesive Membrane

Cold-applied system for roofs where open flame is not permitted. Ideal for renovation over existing insulation.

πŸ›‘οΈ
Liquid Waterproofing

Polyurethane or acrylic coating applied over existing membranes for a seamless, reinforced top layer. Excellent for terraces and balconies.

πŸ”§
Leak Diagnosis & Repair

We locate the source of leaks (not just the symptom), repair membranes, repoint upstands and re-seal all penetrations.

🌿
Green Roof Substrate

Root-resistant membranes as the foundation layer for planted roofs and terraces.

β˜€οΈ
Solar-Compatible Roofing

Reinforced membrane systems able to support the ballast and fixing loads of photovoltaic panels.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a bitumen membrane last?

A properly installed two-layer torch-applied system lasts 20–25 years on the Costa Blanca. Single-layer repairs or poor-quality materials may need attention after 10–12 years. We specify the right system for your expected lifetime.

Can you repair just the leaking section?

Yes, if the rest of the membrane is in good condition. We always inspect the whole roof first to confirm this. Partial repairs are often cost-effective, but sometimes a full replacement is more economical long-term.

What is the difference between APP and SBS?

APP (atactic polypropylene) modified membranes perform best in hot climates and are highly UV-resistant β€” ideal for Costa Blanca summers. SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) membranes remain flexible at low temperatures. We recommend APP or combined systems for this region.
