In the Mediterranean climate of Alicante, roof insulation is not a luxury — it is a necessity. In summer, the surface of an uninsulated roof can exceed 70 °C, turning the interior into an oven. Good insulation cuts that heat flow, reduces air-conditioning use and makes the property naturally comfortable. In winter, it retains indoor heat and reduces heating consumption.
Closed-cell polyurethane foam is sprayed directly onto the roof structure or under the covering. It forms a continuous layer with no joints or thermal bridges, adheres perfectly to any surface and acts simultaneously as insulation and vapour barrier. Especially effective on pitched roofs with irregular spaces.
Rock wool or XPS panels are installed over the roof structure before laying tiles or waterproofing. This is the most energy-efficient system because it wraps the entire roof without reducing habitable space. Combined with an underlay waterproof membrane beneath tiles for a complete system.
Installation of high acoustic-absorption materials to reduce noise from rain, wind and the outdoor environment. Essential in tourist areas and Costa Blanca developments with heavy summer traffic. Rock wool is the preferred material for its dual thermal and acoustic function.
For renovations where lifting the existing roof is not desired, we install insulation from the inside: between beams using rock wool or cellulose, or by spraying polyurethane. Finished with a vapour barrier and plasterboard or timber lining. Ideal for converting a loft into habitable space.
On flat roofs, the inverted system places XPS (extruded polystyrene) insulation above the waterproofing. In addition to insulating, it protects the membrane from Alicante's extreme thermal cycles, significantly extending its service life. Recommended for flat roofs with pedestrian traffic or terraces.
After improving insulation, we can assist with updating your property's energy efficiency certificate. A better rating can increase the market value of your property — fundamental for holiday homes and rental properties on the Costa Blanca.
Reduction in A/C consumption
With quality insulation, air conditioning works far less to maintain a comfortable temperature.
Reduction in indoor temperature
In summer, a well-insulated roof can keep the interior up to 8 degrees cooler than without insulation.
Estimated annual saving
In a typical Costa Blanca home, electricity bill savings can recover the investment in 4–7 years.
