How long does flat roof waterproofing last?
With a quality two-layer system and correct installation, the service life is 15–25 years. In the Alicante climate, inverted roof systems or those with a reflective finish last longer, as the membrane is protected from direct solar radiation. Annual maintenance can significantly extend that service life.
Is it necessary to remove existing paving to waterproof?
It depends on the condition of the paving and the existing membrane. In many cases we can waterproof over the current surface using liquid membrane systems or special self-adhesive sheets, avoiding demolition. We assess each case during the preliminary inspection and recommend the most efficient solution.
What is the best time of year to carry out the work?
On the Costa Blanca we can work practically all year round. We avoid the torrential rains of September–October for waterproofing projects. Summer is ideal for torch-applied membranes, as the temperature aids application. For longer planning horizons, we recommend spring or early autumn.
